Where did the inspiration for The Scary Scarecrow come from?

I had been playing around with ideas for a series of children’s books about my youngest granddaughter since retiring from teaching in 2020. One day, after my granddaughter had started Prep, I decided to read her my stories as I was writing.

She decided to write her own story. Using a green marker and a whiteboard, she drew a scarecrow and wrote her story:

                          The pig was scared by the scarecrow.

She then added a drawing of a pig with its curly tail in the air as it ran away.

The story I was writing at the time needed an image of a story book. So, I created an image of a scary scarecrow book and…
